AQUATIC FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

 

Aquatic Fitness classes are ranked by class level but all levels welcome.

 

 

Level 1 – Classes are for the beginning participant.  The primary focus will be on learning proper water movement with low to moderate intensity.

 

Level 2 – Classes are for the intermediate participant whom has had some experience in the water and have a cardiovascular base.  Intensity is moderate to mildly intense.

 

Level 3 – Classes are for the advanced participant and the intensity is moderate to very intense.

 

 

·         Aqua Power, Aqua Bodyworks, Extreme Aqua, Tidal Blast - These are our highest intensity classes for those who want a more athletic approach to their aqua workout. Water resistance training, demanding aerobic rebounding and unaided suspension are used to get participant’s heart pumping and body moving.  Level 3.

 

·         Early Morning Aqua, Morning Motion, Sunrise Start, Making Waves, Cardio & Tone, Aqua Aerobics - A great total body workout for all.  These classes incorporate water running, walking & rebounding along with strength training equipment, and stretching techniques.  All Levels.

 

·         Dynamic Deep, Delightful Deep - This is a great non-impact total body workout in the lap pool.  Participants are completely suspended in this class and can make their workout more challenging by foregoing the use of a flotation device.  An excellent class for pregnant and post-partum women.  Levels 2 & 3.

 

·         Liquid Tai Chi - Features flowing movements to relax, soothe, de-stress and bring balance.  All levels.  (Summers only)

 

·         Stretch, Flex & Balance - This class is designed for members with physical limitations wishing to gain mobility, improve health, and get a workout in a warm water environment.  Special focus is directed to postural awareness, slow and controlled movements and learning correct body mechanics.  An excellent class for pregnant and post-partum women.  This is a 45-minute class.  Level 1.

 

·         Rebound & Suspend - A class held in the shallow & the deeper end of the functional training pool (lap pool during the summer).  Get a great cardiovascular workout while working on your strength, stability, and stamina.  Flotation belts are provided to help you perform vertical, seated, and horizontal moves.  Some kicking moves may be performed.  Levels 2 and 3.

 

·         Open Use Time - The Functional Training Pool is open for members to perform their own exercises throughout the day.  Please remember, this pool is for exercise only, and is not intended for recreational purposes.  With the exception of Family Hours and SwimAmerica swim lessons, there are no children permitted in the functional training pool at any other time.
